Maryville college voters react to second presidential debate

MARYVILLE (WATE) –  Maryville College Democratic and Republican student organizations came together Sunday night for a Presidential debate watch party.

The debate got off to a personal start as Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton squared off on a number of issues; including Clinton’s leaked emails and a recording featuring Trump making lewd comments about women.

“It’s kind of sad really that we’ve gotten to this point instead of instead of talking about substantive issues,” said Joshua Anderson, a Republican. “We’re talking about candidates that are so flawed that we’re talking about both of their flaws.”

While each candidate may be flawed, students on both sides of the aisle said it’s important for everyone to tune in and listen.

‘It’s going to be interesting moving forward,” said Anderson. “I’m interested to see moving forward what we talk about.”

The candidates will face off one last time at the University of Las Vegas on October 19.
