NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump announced new members to his National Security Advisory Council Friday, and among those names is a well-known Tennessean.
Sen. Bob Corker was one of 11 listed in a press release.
The others included KT McFarland, Congressman Mike McCaul, Sen.Tom Cotton, Sen. Richard Burr, Jim Woolsey, Tom Barrack, Congressman Darrell Issa, Sen. Jim Inhofe, Charlie Glazer and John Ashcroft.
They will be added to the National Security Advisory Council team which includes Sen. Jeff Sessions and Rudy Giuliani, among others.
Friday’s announcement about Sen. Corker’s new role came the same day audio was released of Trump making lewd comments about women in 2005.
Corker released the following statement about the matter:
“These comments are obviously very inappropriate and offensive and his apology was absolutely necessary.”
Earlier this year, the Trump campaign was considering the senator for a vice presidential pick; however, Corker took himself out of the running in early July.
