KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Crews worked to control a structure fire in South Knoxville Thursday morning.
Knoxville Fire Department reported to the fire at 3846 Martin Mill Pike around 4 a.m. The building was a vacant commercial structure.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire on the main floor of the single story building. Investigators believe the main body of the fire was in the attic. However, it was difficult for crews to get into the attic due to the building’s plywood ceiling and layers of asphalt shingles that were under the metal roof.
Crews used a metal saw and chainsaw to cut through the roof. An aerial stream was used to put spray water through the opening.
The cause of the fire is unknown. No injuries were reported.
