KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knoxville has thousands of greenways across the city and one race is taking advantage of them and using them as part of their course.
The Pilot CrossKnox 15K starts on October 9 at 8:00 a.m. at Morningside Park. The finish is at Bearden Elementary School and all pre-race and post-race activities will take place at Knoxville Adult Education Center, adjacent to Bearden Elementary School. Participants will be bused from Bearden Elementary School to Morningside Park for the race.
The 15 kilometer race r runs almost entirely on City of Knoxville greenways. Participants will begin at Morningside Park and follow the greenway to Volunteer Landing, past Neyland Stadium and Thompson Boling Arena, around the UT Gardens, through Tyson Park, along Third Creek Greenway, and finally connecting to the Sutherland Greenway to finish at KAEC/Bearden Elementary School.
“This event is a great tradition for our community,” said KTC Executive Director Kristy Altman. “It provides participants an opportunity to explore Knoxville greenways and is a great tune-up event for the Tennessee Sports Medicine Group Farragut 13.1, 5K, and Kids Mile.”
Optional packet pickup and late registration are available on October 6 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Academy Sports + Outdoors in West Knoxville.
