Luke’s Diner pop-up comes to Knoxville for Gilmore Girls celebration

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – East Tennesseans can experience a little bit of Stars Hollow Wednesday.

Two hundred cafes are transforming into Luke’s Diner to celebrate the anticipated “Gilmore Girls” revival, according to Eater. Wednesday marked the 16th anniversary of the show’s first episode.

Knoxville’s The Golden Roast is joining in on the fun. The cafe is located at 825 Melrose Place in Downtown Knoxville.

Golden Roast is competing with other cafes across the country to host a cast signing. Fans must use #GoldenRoast #Netflix and #GilmoreGirls in social media posts. The event Netflix, which will release “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” on November 25. The line to Golden Roast went around the block of Melrose and Cumberland. Some fans started to line up at 6:30 a.m.

Diners and cafes will take guests into the land of Lorelei, Rory and friends from 7 a.m. to noon. Eater says guests who arrive early may receive a “fun surprise under their custom Gilmore Girls coffee sleeve.” Also early birds may have the opportunity to receive a free cup of coffee.
