6-year-old dies after South Carolina school shooting

GREENVILLE, S.C. (WSPA) – Jacob Hall, the 6-year-old victim of a shooting at Townville Elementary School in South Carolina, has died at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Hall died just before 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon, according to the Anderson County Coroner. He was shot Wednesday afternoon after deputies say a teenager shot two students and a teacher.

According to doctors, Hall had massive blood loss after being shot in the leg, which hit his femoral artery. He had undergone several surgeries to try to stabilize his condition, according to Dr. Keith Webb.

Another student was shot in the foot and the teacher was hit in the shoulder, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office. Both were released from the hospital the same day of the shooting. Deputies say there is no known relationship between the suspect and the victims.

On Friday, an Anderson County judge charged the teen with murder and three counts of attempted murder. The suspect is home-schooled and is not a student at any school in the district.

A family friend says he was expelled from his school last year for bringing a hatchet to school and attacking a child. Deputies say they were on the scene within seven minutes and arrested the suspect.
