Knox County Health Department reports 7 cases of zika virus in county

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Bell Walker’s Crossing Apartments said they received a phone call from the Knox County Health Department informing them that resident came in contact with the zika virus while traveling.

The apartment complex staff sent an email to residents Friday saying that the Knox County Health Department is required to talk to the community about Zika awareness. They said the health department made it clear that the resident did not come into contact with the zika virus while they were in Knoxville.

The Knox County Health Department said they have had seven cases of zika virus reported in the county. They said all of the cases have been travel-related.

The CDC reports 49 total cases in Tennessee and 3,348 cases in the United States.
