KNOXVILLE (WATE) – East Tennesseans can experience Greek culture next weekend.
GreekFest will be at St. George Greek Orthodox Church from September 30-October 2. Attendees can try Greek food and pastries, enjoy live music, see traditional dancing and costumes and shop.
Food at the event will include roast lamb, gyro, souvlaki, pastichio, spanakopita, tiropita, Greek salad, Greek pizza and sagnaki.
There will also be presentations on the Greek Orthodox religion and history. Shoppers can find imported jewelry, gifts and art. There will be an authentic tavern with wine, coffee and frappes. There will be products from Papou’s Pantry and YiaYia’s Cuisina for sale.
Tickets are $2 for adults and $3 for a weekend pass. Children 12-years-old and under can attend for free. The event is from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Parking is available at Western Plaza’s lower lot all weekend, West High School on Saturday and Sunday, and Laurel Church of Christ and 2nd Presbyterian on Friday and after noon on Sunday.
