KNOXVILLE (WATE) – East Tennessee residents are coming together on October 1 in an effort to end Alzheimer’s disease.
The Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s is an experience for participants to learn about the disease and how to get involved in the effort to find a cure. In addition to the two mile walk, there will also be a pet corner, DJ, and a special tribute to those who have experienced or are experiencing Alzheimer’s.
More than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer’s and that number is expected to increase as high as 16 million by 2050.
The event is October 1 on the UT Campus. Registration is at 8 a.m., ceremony at 9 a.m. and the walk starts at 9:30.
