LOUISVILLE, TN (WATE) – A twenty-year-old from Blount County, Sierra Boring, is fighting Crohn’s disease. Boring was diagnosed when she was 8-years-old. Since then, she has been in and out of hospitals for major surgeries.
“There has not been a month when we are not admitted to the hospital for weeks at a time,” said Misty Boring, mother of Sierra Boring.
Crohn’s disease causes inflammation of the digestive tract. Right now, there is no cure.
“I can not remember the last time my daughter was not in some kind of chronic pain,” said Misty Boring.
Misty Boring and Sierra Boring are from Louisville. They have been in Ohio for two weeks for another surgery. Misty Boring said Sierra Boring is not doing well after surgery. She may now need a hip replacement.
“Running high fevers, high blood pressure and they are talking about putting her into ICU,” said Misty Boring.
This is all happening with Misty Boring at her daughter’s bedside. However, that came with some consequences.
“I’ve let go of good jobs. I’ve been let go of good jobs. That’s because I have stood my ground. I have drawn that line. I wont leave her,” said Misty Boring.
Now, the family is hurting financially because Misty Boring is not working.
“Rent. Our cars broke down. Food,” said Misty Boring.
On October 1, there will be a benefit concert in Maryville to help out. The event will take place from 12 p.m. -11 p.m., at 3247 Turkey Pen Branch Rd. The money will allow Misty Boring to stay at her daughter’s bedside.
“As a mother, I need to be there for her. I want to be there for her,” said Misty Boring.
The family is also selling shirts to raise money. You can buy one at booster.com/mistyboring.
