Knoxville TVA Credit Union warns of new scam

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knoxville TVA Credit Union warning customers of a new scam, Saturday afternoon.

Customers are receiving text messages and phone calls. During the phone call, customers are being told they have pas due payments. Two different text messages are being sent. One says “KNOXVILLE TVA EMPLOYEES C.U. Alert for” followed by a phone number. Others are receiving a text that says “K nnoX Vville TVA ECU alert” and lists a number to contact, according to the Blount County Sheriff’s Office. The scam asks customers to give their pin code or card number. Some text messages may have a link to provide personal information.

The phone

number does not belong to TVA.

TVA Credit Union sending out a reminder to customers to not give out sensitive personal information.

The Credit Union will never call you to ask for this information.
