KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Country singers’ Emily Ann Roberts and Lawson Bates visited patients at East Tennessee Children’s hospital Wednesday, hoping to spread some joy.
“I didn’t even know they were coming, it was a big surprise,” said Lauren Bridgeman. She said the mini concert gave her strength to keep fighting.
“It feel like there were people behind me that are still caring and praying for you to be better in such a place of disappointment, sadness and sickness,” said Bridgeman. “Whenever you’re feeling so much pain, it’s a great thing to see people that are happy, excited to be here and brighten up your spirits.”
The film crew from “Bringing Up Bates” also tagged along, catching special moments as Lawson and Emily talked with patients about their favorite country music songs.
“It’s something I’ve really grown to love and look forward to this every month or so,” said Bates. “You get to see so many kids that are going through so much but seeing their postive attitude and mindset is a real inspiration to me and I definitely believe that they inspire me more than I inspire them.”
“I want to make their day better and encourage them the best I can and just let them have a good time,” said Roberts. “I’m so thankful I get to do music because music is so powerful in that way no matter what you’re going through it can brighten your spirits.”
