KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knoxville Police Department arrested a suspect in at least two robberies.
Justin Randall Coffey, 34, was charged with two counts of robbery. Police said they anticipate he will be charged with additional robberies as their investigation continues.
Police said at 11:29 a.m. there was a robbery at the CVS located at 6005 Kingston Pike. They said a man walked into the business, told the clerk he had a gun and demanded money from the register. Officers said the clerk gave the man money and he drove off in a green Nissan.
A witness was able to get the tag number from the vehicle, according to police. They said investigators checked his registration and were able to set up surveillance of his house.
About an hour later Coffey was arrested. Officers said clothing worn by the suspect in the robbery was located inside Coffey’s green Nissan.
Coffey was also identified as a suspect in the robbery Monday at the Cash Express located at 4922 Broadway Avenue. At the Cash Express the robber went inside the business, demanded money, employees complied with demands and nobody was injured.
