KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The American Heart Association is hosting its annual Heart Walk this month on the festival lawn at World’s Fair Park to bring the community together and help fight heart disease.
The event is Sunday, September 18, with activities starting at 1:30 p.m. and the walk at 3 p.m. It’s designed to promote physical activity and heart-healthy living while creating a fun and rewarding environment for the whole family. The American Heart Association says heart disease and stroke are the country’s number one and number five killers, respectively.
One million walkers are taking part in nearly 350 events around the country. WATE 6 On Your Side is a sponsor of the Knoxville event. Good Morning Tennessee’s Tearsa Smith and WNOX’s Frank Murphy will emcee.
