MORRISTOWN (WATE) – Residents in Morristown got a taste of Latin America Saturday afternoon at the second annual Lakeway Latin festival.
The festival featured several; cuisines from different Latin countries including: Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico, and several others. The gathering also included live music in an effort to integrate Hispanic and Latino families.
“The Lakeway area, which is Morristown and the surrounding counties, has a significant Hispanic population, but they’re kind of in the background,” says organizer Willie Santana. “We wanted to create an opportunity where the established community and the Hispanic community could come together and showcase each other’s heritage and what they have in common.”
The festival came just over a week before the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month on September 15.
