GATLINBURG (WATE) – One person is dead after an accident in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
The park service says rangers responded to an accident at 11:23 p.m. Thursday on the Spur, the road that connects Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge through the park. Rangers said it appeared a tree fell on a 2005 Ford truck.
The driver was killed in the collision, according to rangers. They said he was a 59-year-old man from Georgia and there were no other passengers in the truck.
Gatlinburg Police Department is providing assistance with the investigation.
