MADISON, Tenn. (WKRN)- A woman has been charged with criminal homicide and a man is still wanted in connection with the death of a woman who was found decomposing in a Madison ditch Monday evening.
Metro police reported 35-year-old Mary Young was with the victim, Jamie Kopulos, 29, and Maurice Boyd, 41, in a Madison hotel room where, police believe, Kopulous passed out after overdosing on heroin and Xanax.
Kopulous’ body was found in a ditch on Hudson Road near Pineywood Acres Drive after she was reported missing by her family Monday. She was last seen on the night of August 16.
Young, along with Boyd, are alleged to have carried Kopulous from the hotel room in a plastic storage tote to Young’s car and drove to the Hudson Road area to dump her into a ditch.
During a police interview, Young told investigators she and Boyd threw Kopulous’ cell phone and other belongings from the car after leaving her in the ditch.
Young was also charged with evidence tampering. She is being held on a $400,000 bond.
Initially, police were searching for two men who were seen with Kopulous the night she went missing. One of them came forward and was interviewed by police as they put together a timeline of Kopulous’ last hours.
Anyone with information on Boyd’s whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-74-CRIME.
