9 arrested in Greene County during sex offender registry compliance investigation

GREENEVILLE (WATE) – Nine people were arrested over two days in Greene County.

The arrests were made during a county-wide compliance and enforcement initiative to make sure sex offenders were following the state’s Sex Offender Registry guidelines. Law enforcement checked on 65 sex offenders.

Six people were arrested for violating guidelines, two were arrested for having a firearm, and one was arrested for being in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. Those arrested include: Michael Richard Szkutak, Steven Harmon, Robert Howell, Anna Loretta Arwood, Richard Charles Jones, Michael Sam Blazer, James Edward Carter, Jeffery Nowell Davis and Billy Ayers.

Investigators found 18 firearms, ammunition, drug paraphernalia and drugs.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office, the Knoxville Police Department, the Maynardville Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms helped with the investigation.
