WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky (WATE) – Tips given to the Whitley County Sheriff’s department led to the arrest of three Kentucky men Saturday night.
The tip alleged that underage drinking was being allowed at a farm located off Cripple Creek Road. A deputy, who was patrolling the area, noticed a high amount of traffic heading in direction of that farm.
The deputy requested assistance from other agencies, including Kentucky State Police and State Troopers.
Upon arrival, officers encountered a crowd of approximately 300 people. Most were underage, intoxicated and were from multiple counties.
Among those in the crowd was 51-year-old Douglas Monroe Jones. Jones was arrested for counts of unlawful transactions with a minor and public intoxication.
19-year-old Dustin White was arrested for public intoxication and second-degree disorderly conduct after refusing to comply with law enforcement commands.
Jail records indicates a State Trooper arrested 22-year-old Tyler Jones for resisting arrest, second-degree disorderly conduct, menacing and public intoxication.
No drugs were located. Those allowed to leave the location passed portable breath tests and field sobriety tests. Officers also had to contact parents of the minors. The sheriff’s department is continuing an investigation.
“Some of these kids at this self-described ‘Barn Burner’ were from as far away as Somerset. I hate to think of what may have happened if this party wasn’t interrupted. So many things could have gone bad and potentially ruined or ended a life. The department appreciates being made aware of this location’s reputation. Tips are very beneficial and we welcome them,” said Sheriff Colan J. Harrell
