KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knoxville police are asking for help in finding a suspect wanted in connection with four armed robberies in the past week.
The first robbery happened last Saturday at R&S Market on Whittle Springs Road. Police say the suspect selected a few items form the store and walked to the counter. He then pulled out a semi-automatic handgun and demanded money from the register. After the employee complied, he ran off. No one was injured.
Then, Fuel City on Beaumont Avenue was robbed on Sunday. Just with the previous robbery, the suspect selected some items from the store and then when he went to the cash register, demanded money from the clerk. He again ran off.
The third robbery happened Monday at Tobacco King on Centerline Drive. This time, the suspect asked for a pack of cigarettes and then pulled out a gun and demanded money. The fourth incident was Wednesday at Next to New on Kingston Pike. The suspect showed a gun tucked in his waistband and demanded money.
“I think we were targeted because we’re a women’s store and maybe he thought that we’re just weak and that I was here by myself. I want this to get out and I want him caught so it doesn’t happen to anybody else,” said Jordan Grubb, a manager at Next to New.
The suspect is described as a thin white male in his mid to late 20s. He is around 5’10” and weighs about 150 pounds. He has brown hair and has committed robberies both clean shaven and with facial hair. He has been seen wearing a UT baseball cap. large black sunglasses, T-shirts and boots.
“It’s upsetting because we are a small business but it doesn’t replace our lives,” said Grubb.
