KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A suspect in multiple car burglaries was arrested early Friday morning.
Richard Reagan, 50, was charged with 3 counts of vehicle burglary, evading arrest and one count of theft. Knoxville Police Department said additional charges are pending.
Police said they received a call about a suspicious person on Larigo Drive and responded at around 6:02 a.m. Officers discoverd dome lights from multiple cars were on and the car doors and rear hitches were open.
When police arrived at the house of the person who reported the suspicious person they found three burglarized vehicles. An officer followed a trail of stolen items along a driveway and yard and found the suspect in a nearby yard.
Police said Reagan ran into a thick wooded area where they were able to arrest them with the help of a K-9 officer. Officers found several stolen credit cards, two backpack blowers, a pair of bolt cutters and a briefcase belonging to one of the victims on the scene.
Reagan is being held on $32,000. Police said there are additional items belonging to other victims that have not contacted them yet.
