KNOXVILLE (WATE) – University of Tennessee junior college transfer Alexis Johnson is no longer suspended from the University of Tennessee football program.
The defensive tackle was suspended from the team in February. He re-enrolled in classes at the university in August.
The 20-year-old was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and false imprisonment. The victim told police Johnson repeatedly choked her. A judge dismissed the false imprisonment charge in April and reduced the other charge to misdemeanor domestic assault if Johnson stays out of trouble for six months.
Johnson was one of the top defensive tackles in the country when he was originally recruited to play for Tennessee.
