UT’s Phi Gamma Delta under temporary suspension

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The University of Tennessee’s chapter of Phi Gamma Delta is under a temporary suspension.

The fraternity’s national headquarters notified the Kappa Tau chapter in July. The fraternity’s Director of Education Todd Rotgers told WATE 6 On Your Side that the suspension comes after an allegation was made against the chapter for hazing last spring.

The school’s Student Conduct and Community Standards department is investigating the claim.

The headquarters, says “A temporary suspension means the following: all aspects of chapter operations should cease immediately, including recruitment, pledge education, intramurals, social functions, etc.”

Also, chapter will not be allowed to off-campus events or ritual meetings.

Currently, there are 15 members living in the house and 99 active members in the chapter. The residence will remain open for the semester.
