KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The National Association of Medical Examiners gave accreditation to the Knox County Forensic Center. The center is one of five accredited medical examiner facilities in the state by the organization.

The center had no deficiencies during the accreditation process by the peer-reviewed system. There are around 400 standards that must be reviewed during the inspection which includes a review of office practices, and implementation of policies and procedures.

“The Knox County Regional Forensic Center is one of the top medical examiner facilities in the state,” said Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett, “and this accreditation speaks to the high level of professional service Dr. Darinka Mileusnic-Polchan and her staff provide to citizens here in Knox County and the more than 25 surrounding counties served by the center.”
