KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The New Harvest Park Farmers Market is celebrating corn and tomatoes Thursday.

The Corn and Tomato Festival will highlight the crops by offering plenty of activities and hosting vendors. Attendees can buy roasted corn, hot dogs, blueberry hibiscus honey soda, longhorn all-grass fed beef patties, and fruits and vegetables.

Children and adults can have fun by competing in the Special Cruze Farm Ice Cream Eating contest. Other contests include: a corn eating, beautiful and ugly homegrown tomato, corn and tomato dish, and corn shucking.

Children can stomp on tomatoes, and can join pets in a parade. Pets and children can dress up in corn or tomato inspired costumes.

There will be cooking demos and workshops on how to grow crops at home.

The event is from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m at 4775 New Harvest Lane. For more information, visit the farmers market website.
