TRENTON, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities say an unidentified woman has been killed after she was hit by a train while was standing near railroad tracks in Tennessee.

Media outlets report Gibson County Sheriff Paul Thomas says the incident occurred Monday morning and involved a CSX train.

Thomas says a train engineer noticed the woman on the side of the track, but she did not move far enough away as the train approached, despite the sound of the train’s whistle.

Thomas said the woman was between 40 and 45 years old and had tattoos on her arms, legs and chest. Police hope the woman’s tattoos could help to identify her.

CSX Railroads spokeswoman Kristin Seay said traffic on the railroad would be suspended through the investigation.
