Thief steals packages from Knoxville mom’s porch, intended for home business

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Bebe Burris is upset because someone loaded up with her delivered packages that were sitting on her front porch.

“I’m just to the point of being really upset and angry that I have to be in this situation. About an $1,800 value,” she said.

A total of 155 “mommy and me” dresses intended for Bumble BeBe’s boutique all disappeared sometime last Thursday.

“I was really surprised to see that they were gone,” said Burris.

Even though a smooth and confident thief got away, Burris also puts the blame on the delivery service DHL.

“I was supposed to sign for the package and they did have my phone number to call, in case I wasn’t here, to re-deliver the next day,” she said.

She’s since put in a claim but says it’ll probably take a few months before it’s settled. Her home has security but after going through this, outside surveillance is the next step. The camera will be installed shortly and a new order has been placed to replace the lost items.

“I’d like for it to address and for them to be held responsible,” said Burris.

Burris says she’s expecting another shipment from DHL and hopes the delivery person doesn’t drop off the package without her signature. Burris has filed a police report and asks if you know anything about these items being stolen to please call the police at (865) 215-7000.
