KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A Putnam County man was sentenced in Knoxville Friday after a 16-year-old girl was drugged and raped.
Buford E. Trammell, 55, was sentenced to twenty years on multiple counts of rape, statutory rape by an authority figure, sexual battery by an authority figure, solicitation of a minor and casual exchange with a minor.
“Because of the conviction in this case, he will never be able to harm this child again,” said District Attorney Charme Allen.
In April, prosecutors told a jury that Trammel and the teen left Cookeville to go to Knoxville for a MRI. The two stayed in a room at Spring Hill Suites in Turkey Creek. The room only had one bed, according to investigators.
Trammel gave the minor two oxycodone pills to snort. According to prosecutors, the girl passed out and woke up to Trammell raping her. The victim says she was raped again the next morning while under the influence of the pills.
He will also be required to register as a sex offender.
