KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The company that made the robot used to kill the suspect in the Dallas police attack is based in Clinton, Tennessee.

Dallas police attached a bomb to the robot, causing it to explode and kill the gunman. The Dallas police chief identified the robot as a Remotec Andros Mark V-A1. Five officers were fatally shot in the attacks, and at least nine officers and two civilians were wounded.

Knoxville and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office are equipped with similar robots.

WATE 6 On Your Side visited Remotec’s Clinton facility in 2012. The model shown was not the same one used in Dallas, but was used in another high profile massacre – the Aurora, Colorado, theater shooting.
