MAYFIELD, Ky. (AP/WATE) – Kentucky State Police say officers are on the scene of a fatal helicopter crash in western Kentucky.

Police said one person died in the crash Monday in Graves County. He was identified as Tennessee Valley Authority pilot Randy Love of Maryville, Tennessee. TVA said in a news release he was a 17-year TVA employee.

WATE 6 On Your Side spoke with Love in April about power line inspections.

“I have been flying helicopters for probably now about 25 years. I used to work a steel mill, back when I first came out of high school and always wanted to fly helicopters, so I’ve been chasing this for the last 30 years,” he said.
