I-75 in Monroe County reopens after crash

Cars stopped on I-75N, just North of Sweetwater because of wreck ((TDOT)

SWEETWATER (WATE) – Interstate 75 in Monroe County has reopened after a crash near mile marker 62 that sent two people to the hospital.

Tennessee Highway Patrol says a Nissan Pathfinder driven by Garry Mooney, 46, and a Ford F-350 driven by Daniel Gray, 35, were both going southbound when Gray lost control and hit Mooney’s vehicle. Both went into the median striking several trees.

Both drivers were injured and taken to hospital by helicopter. a passenger in Gray’s vehicle was not hurt.

The interstate was closed for several hours and traffic backed up for miles.
