SEVIERVILLE (WATE) – Crisis negotiators talked with a man that had barricaded himself inside a house for hours before he finally surrendered to police.
Kody Evan Lane was arrested on an aggravated domestic assault warrant. He was taken to the Sevier County Jail with no bond.
Sevierville Police Department said they were contacted by Lane’s girlfriend, who said he was intoxicated and had fired several rounds at her with a handgun. Police responded to the home, located at 121 Crescent Drive at around 8:57 p.m.
While Lane’s girlfriend was being interviewed, police said more shots were fired. Police set up a perimeter around the home and crisis negotiators said they talked with Lane for over an hour. During their conversation they said Lane fire additional shots.
Additional assistance was requested from the Knoxville Police Department’s S.W.A.T. team. Finally at 12:10 am, after continuing dialogue between Lane, crisis negotiators and one of Lane’s friends, he surrendered to officers.
