KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Knoxville police arrested five juvenile suspects Monday afternoon, only moments after officers said they robbed another juvenile at gunpoint.
Officers were called to Pilot, 3615 Sutherland avenue, around 4:29 p.m. The male juvenile victim said he was walking to a friend’s house when a vehicle with three people inside stopped beside him. The victim knew one of the passengers from school.
The victim asked if they could give him a ride to work and they agreed. After the victim got into the car, the vehicle drove around the block and picked up two more people. When the vehicle got to Sutherland Avenue, the victim’s acquaintance pulled out a gun and demanded the victim’s money.
When the victim said he had no money, they forced him to withdraw money from the ATM machine. After withdrawing a small amount of money, the victim refused to leave Pilot. The suspects drove off and the victim called 911.
Twelve minutes later, officers spotted the vehicle on Hall of Fame Drive and they conducted a traffic stop. Four male juveniles and one female juvenile were taken in for questioning. All five were then charged with several felonies including aggravated robbery, especially aggravated kidnapping and weapons possession. The victim was not hurt.
