KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Dozens of East Tennessee students returned home after travelling to the nation’s capitol for AAA’s annual safety patrol trip.

This year marked the 60th anniversary of the AAA trip to Washington D.C. The students are members of their school’s safety patrol and got a closer look at how the Untied State’s government works.

“We went to Washing and decided to and we went to the natural history museum. That was really cool and we went to the air and space museum, that was really cool and we went to all the memorials, that was my favorite part,” said safety patrol student Christina Gerthert.

The safety patrol members also visited the House chamber inside the Capitol, the National Zoo, Udvar-Hazy Center, the Arlington Cemetery, Mt. Vernon, The White House and saw the Changing of the Guard ceremony at Arlington Cemetery.
