HUTTO, Texas (KXAN) — A Texas high school football coach and teacher has been charged with improper relationship between educator and student, after admitting to having a relationship with a 16-year-old student.
The father of the teenager called police on May 25 after he learned Jake Fenske, 26, had been inappropriately communicating with his daughter by text message and Snapchat.
Her father was told by an acquaintance that the teenager and Fenske were dating and in a sexual relationship. In an interview with police, the student said the relationship with Fenske ended as of late March.
In a May 27 interview with police, Fenske told police that he loved her and admitted to dating and having a sexual relationship with the student, including in Fenske’s classroom at Hutto High School.
On June 3, Hutto Independent School District said they are cooperating with the Hutto Police Department and awaiting clearance to resume the district’s own investigation. Fenske was placed on administrative leave.
“Hutto ISD places the safety and security of students as its highest priority,” the district’s statement said. “If any wrong doing is discovered, Hutto ISD will hold staff accountable to the fullest extent possible.”
Fenske was booked into the Williamson County Jail Friday, June 3, and released the same day.
