SEYMOUR (WATE) – A South Knox County man was arrested for arson Wednesday after deputies said he set fire to his house early Tuesday morning.

Clinton Cartwright, 24, is charged with setting fire to a home at 608 Hendrons Chapel Road that he shared with his girlfriend, another adult and three children. None of them were home at the time.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office says Cartwright fled the scene after setting a fire in the bedroom with gasoline. When firefighters arrived, they found about a third of the home was burning. Investigators at the time said the fire seemed suspicious.

Detectives were led to a grocery store in Seymour Wednesday where Cartwright was arrested without incident. He is being held on $30,000 bond.
