Man robbed near gas station in East Knoxville

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – One person was robbed near a gas station in East Knoxville Friday morning.

Knoxville police say a call was made of a robbery at the Pilot location at 3004 East Magnolia Avenue man near Elmwood Street at 9 a.m. The victim says he was sitting on the sidewalk near the gas station when he was robbed.

The suspect came up to victim from behind and grabbed his neck, according to the report. The victim claims the suspect had a silver handgun and demanded cash. However, the victim resisted and the suspect threatened to shoot him. Investigators say the suspect fired one round into the air.

The victim gave the suspect cash. According, to the victim, the suspect said the money was for his rent.

Investigators believe the suspect fled in a maroon SUV. According to the victim, the suspect is a black male, tall and medium build. He was last seen wearing a black and yellow shirt and brown shorts.
