MARYVILLE (WATE) – Two men have been arrested and charged with a string of auto burglaries in Blount County, but the search is continuing for a third suspect.

Quinton Michael Smith, 20, and Jordan Blake Wallace, 18, are each charged on one count of burglary of a vehicle. Wallace was arrested Friday morning in Louisville while Smith was arrested on May 30 by TWRA agents on an unrelated charge. He was already being held in the Blount County Detention Center when he was charged with the vehicle burglary.

A number of victims reported 12 different auto burglaries in the early morning hours of May 21. All of the burglaries happened in the Big Springs Ridge Road area, according to deputies, on Sumner Drive, Kursk Drive and Hurtgen Drive.

In addition to stealing numerous items from vehicles, a 2008 Mercury Sable was also stolen, which was recovered behind a business on North Houston Drive in Maryville. Detectives also recovered some stolen camera equipment.

After surveillance video and still photos began circulating from the burglaries, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office received a number of tips. Deputies say those tips, as well as other information obtained during the investigation, led to the arrests.

Deputies want to remind citizens to make sure their vehicles are locked. All of the vehicles burglarized on May 21 were unlocked.

Smith was arrested last June for an apparent drug deal that led to a shooting in Alcoa.
