DANDRDIGE (WATE) – Two staff members were injured after a fight broke out between seven students at Mountain View Youth Development Center in Dandridge.

Rob Johnson, spokesman for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, says the fight began in a classroom Monday involving three students. Several staff members moved in to break up the fight and four more students became involved.

The staff was able to stop the fight and remove the disruptive students from the area within 10 minutes, but one staff member was punched and had to be taken to Jefferson Memorial Hospital. Another staff member was also injured, but was able to continue working through the rest of his shift.

The incident remains under investigation.
