Scott County deputies search for suspect in hit-and-run crash

WINFIELD, Tenn. (WATE) – Scott County Sheriff’s Office is asking people to be on the lookout for a maroon Pontiac Grand Prix.

Deputies said the driver hit a mother and her small child on Pine Grove Road in Winfield Friday. The car the Pontiac hit was totaled.

“The occupants of the hit vehicle, the mother and her small child could have been severely injured, but thankfully they only received minor cuts and bruises,” said the Scott County Sheriff’s Office in a statement. “The driver of the maroon Pontiac Grand Prix fled from the scene of the crash without due care of whether or not the mother and her small child was injured.”

The sheriff’s office said the car left behind a bumper. Anyone with information is asked to call the Scott County Sheriff’s Office at (423) 319-8536.
