Train collides with abandoned truck in West Knox County

KNOXVILLE (WATE) – A train hit a truck early Monday morning in west Knox County.

The collision happened around 1 a.m. at Emory Church Road near Fox Road according to investigators.

Investigators say the train’s conductor claimed a person was standing outside of the truck. The truck was on the tracks and the person was trying to make the train stop.

However, the person fled from the scene on foot after the truck was hit, according to the report.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office is working to figure out who owns the vehicle.
