SNEEDVILLE (WATE) – Law enforcement agencies captured a person of interest in two Hancock County murders Monday afternoon in Hamblen County.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Ricky Helmick Jr., 30, is charged with kidnapping and is a person of interest in the deaths of his father, Ricky Helmick Sr.,57, and Natasha Riley, 37. TBI said Ricky Helmick Jr. was arrested on Monday afternoon in Hamblen County.
He is being held on $250,000 bond.
“Praise to God, Team Hamblen County Sheriff Deputies, Tennessee Highway Patrol, TBI, and Hancock County Sheriff Department for a job well done in capturing a very dangerous fugitive,” said Hamblen County Sheriff Esco Jarnigan. “Thanks to all. Together we will continue to make a difference.”
The bodies of Ricky Helmick Sr. and Riley were found Friday night in a home located at 1041 Vardy Blackwater Road in Sneedville. The TBI was requested by 3rd District Attorney General Dan Armstrong and the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office to investigate the two deaths.
