MARYVILLE (WATE) – A Maryville man was arrested Thursday night after trying to rob two different businesses.
Lucas Hubert Potter, 34 is charged with robbery, aggravated robbery and theft of property. The Blount County Sheriff’s Office was called to Lems Corner Amoco on Highway 321 around 9 p.m. Thursday for an attempted robbery. The clerk said a man came in and demanded money, but never showed a weapon. When the clerk refused, the suspect left in a white Ford Focus.
A short time later, the Maryville Police Department received a call from Plantation Market on Sevierville Road. The clerk said the suspect, who also matched the description of the Amoco suspect, came in with a BB gun and demanded money. The clerk refused and the suspect left.
Around 30 minutes later, deputies were called to Four Corners Market in Rockford for a driver who left without paying for gas. The suspect had the same description from the earlier robberies. Finally, around 11:30 p.m., Marvyille police stopped the vehicle on LeConte Drive. The driver, identified as Potter, was taken into custody. A passenger was released with no charges.
Potter is being held on $15,500 bond.
