Man arrested after hours-long standoff with Anderson County deputies

CLINTON (WATE) – An armed suspect was arrested Friday morning after a standoff with Anderson County deputies just outside Clinton.

Adam Jacob Daniels, 30, is charged with three counts of aggravated assault, felony reckless endangerment and an outstanding violation of probation warrant. Deputies had gone to Daniels’ home to serve arrest warrants on two prior incidents. Daniels had allegedly gone to an apartment on Old Edgemoor Lane in Claxton Thursday evening and threatened two people with a handgun. He then reportedly returned around 3 a.m. Friday and fired a shot through the apartment window.

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office obtained warrants and went to his mother’s home on Hollingsworth Lane around 8 a.m. Daniels was seen inside, but he refused to open the door. The SWAT team was called in because Daniel was known to be armed. Family members came and talked to him by phone, but he still refused to come out. A deputy then spoke on the phone with him for a length of time and convinced him to leave the home around 11:30 a.m.

Daniels was taken to the Anderson County Detention Facility for booking. He has numerous prior arrests in both Anderson and Knox counties.
