‘Nashville’ returns Wednesday night with Deacon and Rayna’s wedding

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – It’s the night fans of the TV show “Nashville” have been waiting on. Deacon Clayborne and Rayna Jaymes are finally headed to the altar.

“I’m very excited. I’ve wanted them to be together since the beginning of the show,” fan Maria Meier from Connecticut told WKRN.

Meier was among the fans Tuesday night at the Grand Ole Opry that was treated to some of the couple’s wedding cake.

“It’s something that most fans have been looking forward to, both the characters have been through a lot individually. There’s been some incredible plot twist and they’ve been survivors and now their reunion and union has been long awaited,” Greg Carr from Louisiana explained.

In anticipation of the couple’s big day, some businesses in Music City have been posting signs to congratulate them.

“All of us are very grateful for what ‘Nashville’ the television series represents and every chance we get here at the Grand Ole Opry to shine a light on the series we want to do so because it’s a win, win,” said Vice President and General Manager of the Grand Ole Opry Pete Fisher.

Backstage at the Opry, the “Nashville” couple has also been added to a special list, being recognized in the dressing room themed “It Takes 2.”

“Rayna and Deacon’s photo has been added in celebration of their wedding and they join the ranks of Johnny Cash and June Carter and Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn and George Jones and Tammy Wynette are all shrined on these walls as well,” said Dan Rogers who is the director of marketing and communications at the Grand Ole Opry.

Some of the cast members will be having a private viewing party at the Bluebird Café in Nashville Wednesday night.
