MADISONVILLE (WATE) – An Endangered Child Alert has been canceled after a missing girl from Monroe County was located safe in Arkansas.

Makayla Hope Weidner, 2, was taken by her non-custodial father Wesley Eugene Weidner after a domestic assault against her mother, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. TBI agents say the girl and her father were located in Alma, Arkansas, and Westley Weidner is in custody.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says they located Weidner by pinging his phone and they may have been heading to Las Vegas. Makayla’s mother is now heading to Arkansas to pick her up.

Wesley Weidner was wanted for aggravated assault, custodial interference and failure to appear in court. Officials say he had threatened to kill himself.
