CLINTON (WATE) – Two escapees from Whitley County, Kentucky, were captured Monday in Clinton, Tennessee.
The Williamsburg, Kentucky, Police Department says they received a call around 3 p.m. Monday from the Kentucky State Highway Department that two state work release inmates had stolen a pickup truck from the state highway garage and went south.
The suspects, Justin Jaynes, 23, and Michael Mayes, 24, had last been seen in the Mud Creek community around 3:30 p.m. Their truck was eventually spotted in Campbell County and a pursuit started that extended into Anderson County.
Deputies there used spike strips that flattened at least one tire. Both suspects ran off but were quickly captured.
