KNOXVILLE (WATE) – The Tennessee Lady Vols are a seven seed in the 2016 NCAA tournament and will face Green Bay in the first round on Friday in Tempe, Arizona.
The 2015-2016 season saw a number of historic lows as the Lady Vols struggled to a 19-13 record. The 13 losses set a record for the most losses in program history.
Tennessee also fell out of the AP Top 25 ranking for the first time since 1985 ending a streak of 565 consecutive weeks in which the Lady Vols had been ranked.
Tennessee also suffered seven conference losses during the regular season, the most for any team in program history. The Lady Vols lost to Mississippi State in the semifinals of the SEC tournament on March 5.
Tennessee’s number seven seed is the lowest seed in program history. The Lady Vols were a number five seed in the 2009 NCAA tournament and were upset in the first round by the 12 seed Ball State.
