TAZEWELL (WATE) – A suspected threat at Claiborne High School convinced some students to stay home Thursday.
Text messages concerning the threat led the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office to investigate Wednesday. The threat was not credible, according to detectives.
Investigators met with the principal. The school decided to not mark any student absent if they decided to not attend class Thursday.
The school had extra security on campus for precaution. The sheriff’s office confirms the school was not on lockdown.
Investigators say no arrests were made. However, the students behind the text messages may be reprimanded, according to the sheriff’s office.
