SEVIERVILLE (WATE) – A Sevier County ambulance service is the latest to deal with a bedbug infestation.
Over the weekend, an employee with the Sevier County Ambulance Service noticed bites. That person called an exterminator who identified the problem as bedbugs.
So far, there’s no word on where the bedbugs came from, but officials say the ambulances and two stations have all been treated and are now clean.
Bedbugs are also causing concerns at a motel in Gatlinburg. Thirteen rooms at the Rainbow Motel on East Parkway are condemned after a bedbug infestation.
Originally, the motel’s management was given until February 25 to treat the bugs, but a notice sent on March 4 says there wasn’t any indication the infestation had been addressed.
The property owner said the problem was addressed, but there was a miscommunication with the documentation. Officials say the owner will face fines if the treatment isn’t completed soon.
